Welcome to our home on the web. Our “real time” home is in Northern Illinois. Willow Creek Cavies strives to raise quality cavies (guinea pigs) of good health and temperament. I had guinea pigs as a child and did 4-H with them; while we are new to showing and breeding them, we are not new to showing and breeding animals in general: I bred/showed/trained dogs — Border Terriers — for the past 20 years, and between dogs, dabbled in Holland Lop rabbits and rats (yes, people show rats and keep pedigrees on them!). I even had a Best in Show rat! I look forward to this next chapter.
I have always done my best to give my animals the utmost in care and consideration. My puppies were sold on a contract that included a spay/neuter agreement and a lifetime return policy if the owner were ever unable to keep it. I showed my adult dogs to prove they were worthy of the breed, and then did the recommended genetic health screenings to make sure nothing bad was being passed on to the puppies. In exchange for my efforts in care, breeding, and support to the buyer, I reserve the right to refuse any buyer that I feel doesn’t have the animal’s best interest at heart or ability to care for it properly — or any other reason.
My utmost thanks to Marianne Schenning of Marianne’s Petite Pigs for the beautiful “starter” animals she set me up with and her endless patience with my questions.
